This resource looks at different ways to structure a poetry comparison essay for AQA 9-1. Students like having a choice over how they set out the plan.
Ask students to spot the difference between the plans.
Then ask students to have a go at following each model and see which one they prefer.
Then get students to turn the plan into a complete essay.
I have blanked out the key words from my original revision sheet. To help students remember the quotations for Monday they must work out what is the missing word.

Students analyse two adverts for Coca Cola. Students must explore how each text was shaped by its context.
They think about attitudes to women in the 1950s compared to attitudes to women in the 21st century and think about how these are reflected in the advert.
This always engages students.

A lesson aimed at getting lower ability students to use more ambitious vocabulary.
Students think of synonyms for ‘nice’ and ‘bad’ and then use the words to write a positive and negative holiday postcard.
The main task where students redraft and improve the model paragraphs is differentiated.
Tough: Students replace the boring adjective with better choices.
Tougher: Students also replace the boring ‘The’ sentence starts.
Toughest: Students change the structure of the sentences and add in similes and a full range of punctuation.
